1 Introduction, apologies and substitutions
The Chair welcomed everyone to the Committee. There were no apologies.
2 New petitions
2.1 P-04-541 Support for the Mentrau Iaith (Language Initiatives)
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the First Minister seeking his views on the petition.
2.2 P-04-542 Practical Opportunities for Young People
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to both the Deputy Minister for Skills and the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, seeking their views on the petition.
2.3 P-04-543 No Increase to University Tuition Fees
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Education and Skills seeking his views on the petition.
2.4 P-04-544 Ban the Shooting of Greenland White-fronted Geese
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Natural Resources and Food seeking his views on the petition.
2.5 P-04-545 Aneurin Bevan Hospital Procedures
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to:
1. the Minister for Health and Social Services and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, seeking their views on the petition; and
2. Aneurin Bevan Community Health Council, seeking their views on the petition and further information on how many people have raised similar concerns directly with them.
2.6 P-04-546 Rearing of Animals in Unnatural Conditions
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to ask the petitioner for further clarification on the purpose of the petition.
2.7 P-04-547 Ban Polystyrene(EPS) Fast Food and Drinks Packaging
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:
1. write to the Minister for Natural Resources and Food seeking his views on the petition;
2. contact the Environment and Sustainability Committee to make them aware of the petition; and
3. give further consideration to undertaking a piece of work on the issues raised.
2.8 P-04-548 The Reintroduction of Welsh Classes in Rennes University
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the First Minister seeking his views on the petition.
2.9 P-04-549 Make ’Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’ the Official Welsh National Anthem
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Culture and Sport seeking his views on the petition.
3 Updates to previous petitions
3.1 P-04-365 Protect buildings of note on the Mid Wales Hospital site
The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority asking it to keep the Committee informed when it does consider the matter and for further information on the reasons for the delay in consideration.
3.2 P-04-519 Abolition of Park Homes Sales Commission
The Committee considered correspondence from the Minister for Housing and Regeneration and agreed to ask the Minister to keep the Committee informed of developments on the consultations on Regulations arising from the Mobile Homes (Wales) Act 2013 and to share with him the petitioner’s concerns.
3.3 P-04-408 Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service
The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Minister for Health and Social Services seeking his views on the further points raised by the petitioner.

3.5 P-04-456 Dementia - This Could Happen to you
The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to:
1. ask the petitioner to keep the Committee informed of developments following contact with the Minister’s officials and consider the petition again following an update from the petitioner; and
2. write to the Minister asking him to consider widening future similar consultations to those directly affected.
The Committee agreed to defer consideration of the following business under Item 3 until the next meeting on 13 May.

The witnesses responded to questions from Members and the Committee were given a demonstration on how to use defibrillators.
